Dr. Paul Hensleigh, the pioneer of the LifeWrap, first used the LifeWrap for women with obstetric hemorrhage in a tertiary care hospital in Sialkot, Pakistan. These six women were hemorrhaging in a city where there was no blood bank. Thus women had long delays in receiving blood transfusions. All of the women were quickly resuscitated once the LifeWrap was applied, and remained stable until treatment was available.

Another case series by Dr. Carol Brees later found the same results with another 13 women. This study showed that the LifeWrap could be used for long periods of time with some women remaining in the garment for up to 48 hours.
